How do you choose the perfect venue?
How do you choose the perfect wedding venue? With so many choices out there, this seems like a daunting task but, the ring is on your finger and the date has been chosen. It is now time to arrange where the most important day of your life is going to be held.
There are so many things to think about when you are planning your special day. Things like what overall “feel” are you wanting for your wedding? Are you going to have an elegant wedding or an all-natural, laid-back ceremony? How many people do you plan to invite and what is your overall budget? All these questions are the starting point to narrow down the huge list of venue options and once you have an idea of how you want your wedding to look and be remembered for a lifetime, the search for a venue that fits your style feels less overwhelming.
If your style is more traditional, then you would look for beautiful church, country club, or a hall. These options will not only evoke a sense of legacy and history but also provides a perfect backdrop for a classic and timeless feeling wedding day.
A more modern wedding feels clean and crisp. These types of wedding are minimalistic and provide you with more open space and less “busy”. Venues that provide an open blank canvas for your wedding day are loft venues, modern restaurants, and art galleries.
If you are more of a natural or rustic bride to be, think outdoor venue, barn venue, wineries, or a park like setting for you day. These types of venues give a down home feel while providing simple elegance in a charming location.
No matter what your style is, another important factor is your guest list. You must consider whether your guests will fit into your venue space. A 200-person guest list is not going to work in an intimate, cozy country venue.
Once you have your guest list narrowed down, it is time to make your tour plan. It is helpful and recommended, to call ahead and find out how many people can be accommodated at each venue. This plan of action will help narrow down your venue list right away. Another important piece of information is accessibility. If some of your most important guests cannot walk through a forest path or sit comfortably outdoors, then likely a venue with a natural view is not going to work for you.
Other things to consider while you are narrowing down your venue options are things like if there is on site coordination? Are there vendor restrictions? And a big question to ask… Is there EXCLUSIVITY!? Many venues will book a couple of weddings on the same day. Depending on how the day is scheduled, this can have a great affect on your special moment.
You also want to consider the cost of hosting your wedding at each venue. Ask the venues to email you a full breakdown of every cost that is associated with your event. This will provide you with full package options that should include any ad-on options that are available to you along with any deposits required.
Once you have all of your questions answered and have the list of vendors that fit your needs and budget, it is time to shop and find the perfect venue for your wedding!
Happy shopping!
